Affordable Family Vacation in NYC

As a family, we decided to save up for a fun trip to see some family this year in New York. We all made some sacrifices in order to save enough money on a monthly basis, and we were rewarded with a trip of a lifetime. We went on a field trip every day, for free, and had so much fun together.  It was the best vacation we’ve had in a long time. Continue reading Affordable Family Vacation in NYC

AZ State Fair Field Trip

This year we loved our time at the Arizona State Fair. We found a deal to get in early for a field trip with a few other homeschooling families.  So we were able to get into the park three hours before the rides and games were open. Our field trip deal allowed all kids in for free and one adult received free admission with every 5 kids. Continue reading AZ State Fair Field Trip

Creation Museum Field Trip

We were able to take a nice visit to the Creation Museum, in Petersburg, KY.  It was a wonderful trip the whole family loved.  Starting at Creation and going through Noah’s Ark, to the Cross, it was a wonderful experience for us all. We all loved how you could see history played out and man’s role in all of it.   Continue reading Creation Museum Field Trip

With the integration of just a few items, and a wide range of activities, the kids will have lots of fun getting fit, and mom and dad will get a chance to reminisce of when they excelled at one or more activities. Continue reading Get Pumped Up: Affordable PE in the Home

An Exciting Way to Start the School Year

At the beginning of the school year we decided to have a school kick off party with our homeschooling friends to celebrate and help us all to start with fresh excitement.  For the kids it made the school year more exciting and lessened the realization of hard work.  For the moms it was a very nice way to celebrate our renewed commitment to our kids Continue reading An Exciting Way to Start the School Year

7 Reasons Why Camping Counts for School

Our world today is so fast paced and technology driven.  Sometimes it is best to slow down and spend time as a family in nature.  By unplugging, we are able to teach our children how to live.  We teach them what is important in life.  They gain life skills that they can fall back on and they learn recreational activities that can develop into hobbies that define who they are.  We take them beyond everyday safety and experiences and help them to grow. How I Incorporated Minecraft in Homeschool

As my son is very into Minecraft right now, I set up a world in which I can count his creativity and ingenuity as education.  In our house, Minecraft is not a core curriculum for any subject, but it is a launching board for tough concepts as we create a fun environment for testing his knowledge of subject matter.  What’s more, the social aspect of Minecraft has been very beneficial.  Anywhere we go, whoever is there, no matter the age, my son is able to talk with them about Minecraft.  If they don’t know about it, he informs them, if they are knowledgeable he talks with them about the various things they can accomplish.
